POLYCARBONATE PANELS
Polycarbonate as a polymer has a large use in the building industry. This material has thermal, optical, and tensile properties of many materials. Polycarbonate is an excellent material to be used in manufacturing skylights, canopies, panel walls, glazing in windows and doors and also roof tops in industrial facilities, sport arenas, lighted boards and billboards.
|
PROPERTIES
Polycarbonate is characterized by the following physical and chemical properties:
- Light transmission of 35-83 % depending on material coloring,
- High degree of resistance to impact, it is safe,
- Durability and resistance to UV radiation due to one side external coating,
- Good thermo insulating value due to multi layer structure,
- Resistance to high and low temperatures from -40 up to 120 degrees.
Maintenance and storage
Periodic washing of polycarbonate glazing should be done with the use of warm water and mild detergents. Before doing the job, try the detergent on a small area. Do not use abrasive materials. Storing should be done on flat surfaces on palettes or wooden logs having at leas 100mm flat area spaced every 1 m. If stored outside, polycarbonate should be covered by a non transparent material to protect against rain and sunshine. Direct sunlight can cause damage due to panes sticking together as well as protective foils. It is recommended to store polycarbonate panels in closed areas.
